Delivery Methodology: Design and Build
Project Overview: The project scope comprised the reclamation of 12.5 acres of land along the derelect shoreline in downtown Belize. The demolition of the old Belize General Hospital. The creation of a public open space amenity area for tourists and the local population. The upgrading of the Marine Parade Boulevard to a full dual carriageway with street lighting. The creation of a parking and marshalling area for tourist buses and coaches.
Challenges / Issues: Prior to the commencement of the reclamation process rock armour breakwaters were created placed on top of geotextile fabric matting. These geotextile mats prevented the punching in of the rock armour.
Contract Value: Phase1,2 and 3 US $10m.
Construction Schedule: The contract duration for the 3 phases was 18 months.
